There is also a shopping centre which is the third largest in the north east, a health and fitness centre and a multiplex cinema. Two miles down the coast brings you to the Saltholme RSPB Reserve, where seals and wading birds are regularly spotted. If you an ardent fan of Brenda Blethyn in Vera you will probably identify a number of places on the Headland and wider afield on Teesside which are used. There is even a day out you can book visiting the places in the North East where the series has been filmed! And before you settle down for the evening, just make sure you are not missing out one of the fabulous sunsets from the promenade. ( The sunrises are just as impressive but that may be too much of an ask! )
