The Old Malthouse is a recently refurbished self-catering holiday cottage situated in the heart of the idyllic Somerset village of Monksilver, on the edge of Exmoor National Park. It makes the perfect base from which to explore Exmoor, before returning at the end of the day to find oneself just a few moments from the highly esteemed Notley Arms public house and restaurant. With a variety of designated footpaths passing close to the property (including the famous Coleridge Way), this is a truly terrific location for walking enthusiasts. In fact, anyone keen to get out and enjoy the great outdoors will find an abundance of local activities including some of the best horse-riding in the country, and being situated just 3 miles from the coast, there are many beaches in the area allowing for swimming, kite flying, or windsurfing.

The centre of Williton is a 3 mile drive from Old Malthouse. As well as hosting the Bakelite Museum and one of the stations on the West Somerset Steam Railway, this small town also boasts a cafe, two supermarkets, a number of public houses, a library, hairdressers, fish and chip shop, pizzeria, petrol station and Post Office amongst other businesses.Minehead is the main town in West Somerset, and sits around 10 miles from the Old Malthouse. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrisons are both on the outskirts of the town), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops.The village of Monksilver sits on the edge of the Brendon Hills and the Exmoor National Park and is also close to the coast. There is plenty to do for walkers, tourists and families alike.Why not visit Cleeve Abbey (2.7 miles), the historic house of Coombe Sydenham (0.25 miles), or Dunster Castle and its historic village (7.9 miles).
