  • "The cottage is in such a beautiful location; remote, quiet and rural."

It's an ideal base for walkers both locally and the wider peak district. It is beautifully kept, warm and spacious with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The patio overlooking the stream is particularly lovely and I can envision lovely summer evenings out there. I will definitely be returning.

The property

Remotely situated, near a small stream, and enveloped by woodlands, Brookside is the perfect base for a family of five, looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle.

Driving down the private country lane, be wowed by the picturesque landscape, surrounding your new home-from-home.

Making use of one of four parking spaces, step through the front door and into the country-style kitchen/diner; wooden worktops, patterned tiles, and state-of-the-art appliances will greet you, the perfect place for preparing and enjoying home cooked meals.

Throughout the sitting room, a contemporary meets homely feel will be present, housing a corner sofa, Smart TV, woodburning stove, and breath-taking views of the surrounding fields.

To truly appreciate the stillness of your abode, choose to relax on the rear patio, ideal for an alfresco lunch, birdwatching, or an evening tipple; listen to the nearby stream flow whilst encompassed by nature.

To rest your head, travel to two well-presented bedrooms, one of which sleeps three with a triple bunk layout, whilst the other homes a king-size bed and TV, offering flexible sleeping arrangements for your party; the old meets new theme continues throughout the bedrooms, boasting wooden furniture and flooring.

Brookside is complete with a stylish bathroom, finished with contemporary fixtures, a dual shower head, and sleek grey tiles, ideal for refreshing ahead of a hike, meal out or fun-filled adventure.

Beyond the tranquillity of the cottage and its position on the Peak National Park, you'll find a range of village amenities, including a convenience store for your essentials, and The Pack Horse Hayfield for a dine-out option.

Family days out to Go Ape Buxton, Poole's Cavern & Buxton Country Park, and Buxton Park will be accessible by car, offering the chance to explore, burn some energy and enjoy an afternoon picnic.

For avid walkers, embark on a trek through Kinder Downfall, Longdendale Trail, and The Roaches, displaying panoramic views of the Derbyshire countryside.

Where you’ll be staying

HAYFIELD

Chapel-en-le-Frith 4 miles; Glossop 5 miles; Buxton 8 miles.

The delightful High Peak village of Hayfield is situated in a wonderful rural setting on the north western edge of the Peak National Park. It’s a peaceful little village, popular with walkers who are attracted by its close proximity to Kinder Scout. Serious walkers head east out of the village, up and over the green foothills to the russet expanse of the Kinder Plateau, Pennine Way and Snake Path, whilst families (and those who enjoy more gentle rambles) head west along the beautiful Sett Valley Trail towards New Mills. Edale – an alternative start of the Pennine Way - is only a few miles away. The village caters well for tourists with pubs, cafes and restaurants. Other local attractions include the Goyt Valley, Castleton – with its famous caverns - and the popular spa town of Buxton.
