• "Our third stay, we love the apartment for its location and amazing views over the beach."

  Sitting reading and people watching in the bay window and walking along the beach to Saltburn both take some beating. This time we had a week of sun, blue skies and truly spectacular sunrises, a great holiday. However, since our first stay about 4 years ago, the interior has become a bit tired, with a couple of niggles, the taps in the bath and in front bedroom wash basin seem impossible to master, but the main gripe is the lounge furniture. Other reviews have mentioned it, the seats are ridiculously low and very uncomfortable. Despite this, I am sure we will return!

  However , the furniture and carpets were tired and the not the most comfortable. The kitchen crockery and table ware was in poor condition. Lack of Pots to cook with and most unusual cutlery ! TV very small and sound was inconsistent. Having said that the Bathroom and Bedrooms were good .

• "Another fabulous stay at Larksbay View."

  This was our third time and we've already booked for 2025! We arrived this time just in time for Storm Darragh. It was lovely to be warm and cosy inside and to be able to watch the waves from the bay window. It's only a short stroll into town for shopping and a coffee or beer. Plenty of eateries and takeaways in Marske too. Nearby Saltburn and Redcar provide more shopping and tourist activities. Looking forward to our next visit.

• "It was a lovely apartment with the most amazing views."

  There were shops close by and walks directly from the apartment onto the beach or along the cliff tops. The only downside as far as we were concerned is that the TV is very small especially given the size of the room. It certainly wouldn't stop us though from recommending and we will most certainly go back

• "Very surprised there was no information or equipment in case of a fire, in a first floor flat with only one means of exit."

  Such as emergency torches, fire blankets and fire extinguishers. Also the furniture was well worn. There seemed to be a problem with the drains in the bathroom, due to the permanent smell.

• "We love the decor of the property, the rooms are spacious, light and airy."

  The flat smelt fresh and clean. The bed was comfy and shower was powerful. The views are amazing, whatever the weather! The independent bars and restaurants are just a short walk away, Rose and Potter, Gilbey’s and Wynd Craft Beers are all worth a visit. Highly recommend Sea Mist Fish and Chips too.

• "Location is great, but that’s the only positive thing I can say."

  As mentioned by other reviewers, furniture was very tired- and yet we were still charged a £62 cleaning fee for spilling a drink on the sofa, despite cleaning it thoroughly before we left. Owner of the property was extremely rude, and in fact aggressive, when we had contact with her. Following our week away, Sykes contacted me and made me feel like a naughty child regarding the accidental spill the morning we left, which left me regretting having chosen this company and this listing for our holiday. Do yourself a favour, go with another company!

• "We had a lovely stay as the property is in a great location with wonderful views of the beach and sea."

  We did have a few small issues - We couldn’t get the shower to run hot as the button to press in to increase temperature is not working and the shower head hold was very loose making showering tricky - We were very disappointed with the outside garden area out front - we love to enjoy time outside but the chairs were broken and rotten and tables unstable and very rusty, not the garden space as described in the listing. The television in the living room kept loosing sound altogether so watching it was almost impossible - The location and views made our stay and the seaside themed decor was nice

  Good morning, Thankyou for the forwarding the feedback. I can confirm that since this review a new shower has been fitted. I’m regards the the outdoor furniture we have supplied a couple of new chairs and we will be looking to replace more. It’s slightly more difficult as the rusty once actually belong to the apartment above so we need to speak to the owner. I have checked the television a couple of time abs actually left it on whilst I competed change over last week which was for about 3 hours and during this time I could not see any faults. • "The position of Larksbay View is superb."

  However the furniture is very uncomfortable. It is VERY low and very wide. We couldn’t wait to get home for a comfy seat. The garden furniture is not fit for purpose —— much of it broken.

• "Fabulous location."

  The apartment looks a bit tired, with creaking and noises from the apartment above. Beware the corners of the main bed, edges are very sharp. Television in the living room is minuscule and the sound keeps fading.

• "We were really pleased with our accommodation in Marske by the sea, and found it well equipped."

  The location was brilliant, with easy access to the town, beach and coast walks. Some of the other reviews showed concerns about the residents of the upper apartment, but while we were aware of their presence, they were not at all disruptive and didn’t spoil our holiday. This was our first holiday on the North East coast for many years but it won’t be long before we return. (Despite the cold winds which can’t be avoided)

• "We enjoyed our stay at Larksbay View."

  The flat is very spacious and the views are amazing. The beds were comfortable and the property was very clean overall, the only thing I would say is that the sofa pillows need freshening up as they smelt unpleasant. We couldn't really hear the occupants in the flats below or above only the odd floor board which can't be helped. The beach is lovely and clean. We highly recommend a walk to Saltburn, it only take 30 minutes if you walk fast and 45 minutes at a slower pace, it is such a beautiful place. We had lovely meals at The Ship restaurant in Saltburn which is dog friendly.

• "We love it at Larksby View, it's our favourite holiday destination and its the only place we have ever returned to more than once."

  This will be the third time we have stayed here, we are looking to book again for next year. The accommodation is clean, comfortable and well equipped. I met the owner on this stay and found her to be very welcoming and helpful. Many thanks for the welcome gift of wine and doggy treats, they were much appreciated. See you next year.

• "Given that we couldn’t get in until 4pm we would have expected the place to be spotless, however the carpets, rugs, chair and sofa need a really good deep clean."

  The mirrors were filthy, we had to wipe them all down. The property could also do with a large central coffee table as there is nowhere to put your cups, unless you carry the only little table around with you, which we took to doing. Also having to vacate for 9am is ridiculous…!!! That means the cleaners have 7 hours to turn it around which, as I said, you would expect it to be spotless and smell clean, instead of putting plug ins on full pelt… Welcome book needs updating as it still has info on Covid and also a single bar of chocolate is hardly a welcome pack…!!! The Apartment could have so much potential as the location and views are amazing, just needs some TLC and it would be 5 star…

• "Great property."

  It's so peaceful. I would definitely return. The kitchen is well equipped and location is perfect for what we want ie a lovely beach on the doorstep and its not commercialised. Very minor criticisms are that the unit has failed in the bedroom window - slightly obscured the wonderful views. Also front door catch must be faulty as there's definitely a knack to opening and closing it. I worked it out in the end. Overall though it's a wonderful property.

• "The location is fabulous, the apartment is very clean and the property has everything you need for a comfortable stay."

  An extra set of keys would be handy, so that if you are staying with another person but you aren't going to be together all of the time then you don't have to leave doors unlocked so one person can go out and take the one set of keys and put them in and out of the key safe numerous times per day. My only criticism - and this is clearly not the fault of the property owner, is that the person in the apartment above kept me awake all week. Obviously if he is another holiday maker I was just unlucky, but if he is a permanent resident it may need looking into if it affects any other guests. As the building is old, the floors above creak and it sounds like there are no carpets in that apartment. He was constantly walking around, very heavily footed at all hours of the day, all through the night and into the early hours (we actually wondered when he manages to sleep!!). So although I enjoyed my stay and loved sitting in that window gazing at the sea, I was somewhat sleep deprived. Again, I know this isn't the fault of the owner but I only think it's fair to make both the owner aware of this and any other guests who aren't heavy sleepers that this could potentially be a problem.

• "We had a wonderful time at Larksbay , so much so we booked for next year while still there ."

  The apartment was spotless, light , airy and so comfortable. Everything we needed was there , fully equipped kitchen , lovely beds and bedding , lots of comfy seating and absolutely amazing view of the beach . Our two dogs loved going to the beach that involved no travel and Marske itself has a great array of shops and eateries ( and pubs ) . The little garden opposite the apartment was a delight to sit in while having coffee and cake ( or Prosecco) and it’s such a help to have a private parking bay . Overall , there is not one negative comment to make on this property, looking forward to our return visit .

  Great attention to detail that made it even more special. Lots of space and very comfortable. Amazing views. Just loved sitting it the bay window each morning enjoying the sunshine and sea. Great location for heading out for beach and headland walks and fantastic independent bars and eateries to explore just a short walk away in Marske.   This is our third visit to Larksbay View, and we hope it won’t be our last. We didn’t plan it, but each trip has coincided with a full moon. Watching it rise from the horizon is spectacular.   Great location, immaculate and well presented holiday apartment. Everything you need for a pleasant stay on the coast. A great base to explore the area, Whitby, Thirsk and Dalton Park (shopping outlet) all just a 40min drive from Larksby View. Will be recommending to our friends and will be back. :)

• "This was our second visit to Larkesview and had a wonderful holiday."

  There's plenty to do within a short driving distance, Staithes, Runswick, Sandsend, Whitby, Guisborough and Redcar. We walked there and back, to Saltburn, aprox 2 miles away and enjoyed the chip shop lunch before heading back. The property is ideally situated to view some amazing sunrises and very its comfortable and clean. We are looking to book again for next year. We enjoyed the welcome gifts of wine and choc biscuits. • "The accommodation was well appointed."

  Views magnificent. Could do with a couple of medium sized serving bowls in the kitchen. Decor very tasteful. but feel that the bathroom lets the apartment down. The fitted carpet in the lounge does need cleaning (this is particularly noticeable in the evening), and the entrance staircase could benefit from a refresh. We happily came to an agreement with the owner and reimbursed £140 for the irreparable accidental damage caused to a Zara rug, but from the original irate phone call I presume we will not be welcome again!

  Very comfortable sofa and beds. Blackout blinds or curtains for the bedrooms would be helpful. The current fittings mean you get woken up by the daylight at 4.30am which you don't really want when on holiday. That said I would definitely go again, the place is a little know gem.

  A-bit of noise from downstairs, with banging doors, dog barking and we could hear there TV when in bed but didn’t bother us as that’s what you expect in a flat. We loved staying here and also the dogs loved looking out the lounge window, doggy watching. Great place to just sit in the window and look at the sea or pop out for a walk on the beach/ walk to saltburn. Definitely recommend

• "We had such a fabulous stay in this apartment."

  Obviously, the view adds splendour, but don’t let that take away from the comfort and facilities - the only thing it needs is a mop for the kitchen floor, but that’s just me being picky. We absolutely loved spending time sitting in the bay window, watching the sea and the world and their dogs pass us by. We heard the person above us quite a few times, but it didn’t bother us one bit. Our dog, Blue, has had the best time ever, and I think he’s wondering where the beach went. We loved this place so much that we’ve booked again for October - something we’ve never done before. I’ve recommended the apartment to around 5 different people, and I know of 3 that are definitely going to book.

  It was so relaxing and rejuvenating to have had the chance to stay here. I really don’t have the words to describe how phenomenal this stay was, I spent hours in the bay window watching the see and rocking in the chair with a cup of tea. • "Not Being a dog owner We’d normally avoid places that accommodated dogs."

  But this apartment was recommended by a colleague at a time I when needed a few days break from being a key worker as I’ve had very little time to relax over past 2 years..... I was not disappointed. Very spacious property. Lovely soft bedding and towels. The place was spotlessly clean. The owners have thought of all personal touches. Also greeted with lovely little treat. They provided every thing I needed for self catering. Perfect location, view, and relaxing sound from the sea. Being very sensitive to sound and smells I was concerned about doggy smells. But the place was so well cleaned it wasn’t a problem. But the over use of air fresheners was. I had hide them away as they gave me headache. And thing is if the place smelled believe me I would have smelled it mixed in the air fresheners. It was absolutely spotless. Highly recommend this place.

• "Spent a 3 night break here in a beautifully appointed apartment."

  It was a bonus having a designated parking place as being able to park nearby would have been a little difficult otherwise. We were aware of the resident above us moving around at nighttime but this is to be expected in this type of accommodation and it wouldn't deter us from coming back. The location was superb and we could have spent hours sitting in the bay window watching the sea. Our weather was glorious, the car didn't move for the entire time and we walked miles along the lovely beach. Thank you for making such a property available,

• "The apartment was beautifully appointed and designed giving a real seaside feel with the most stunning of views through the main windows."

  The sound of waves breaking on the beach at night was really relaxing and during the day the beach and sea were easily reached. The location was ideal for exploring the area on foot with both Saltburn and Redcar being within reach. An excellent pub is a couple of minutes walk away and a small selection of shops just a further few minutes away. A first class location providing a first class holiday!

What make this apartment special and stands out from the rest is the superb location and view from the large bay window looking over the beach and sea. • "Amazing location and views of the beach."

  Dog friendly area which is great. Beach is literally outside your door, which frames a new picture every day. Apartment lovely with everything you could need. Lovely welcome pack from owners. We had seals one day swimming by which was wonderful. For me Marske lacked amenities, and unfortunately due to Covid nothing was really open in Redcar or Saltburn so limited things to do.

Although the apartment is on the second floor the stairs have handrails on both sides. The area has lots to do.our dogs loved both the beach and the grassy areas on the other side of the lane

  .. the location was incredible and the views from the flat well put a smile on your face...great spot. The flat itself was like being at home - relaxing, comfortably furnished and great spot for putting your feet up after long walks along the Cleveland way. Our dogs loved it too especially the little treats left for them....we were very aware of how lovely the flat looked so did take blankets to cover the sofas and beds from them. I would definitely recommend this flat..thank you.

  The residents were very helpful and friendly, which you do not get in many holiday lettings. The view is superb and we have no problem with saying if you want a superb sea view in perfect situation then this is the place for you especially if you have a dog or two it is ideal.

• "Took my mum away for a short break at Larksbay and I have to say even the beautiful photos on the website don’t do it justice, it’s truely breathtaking as you walk into the living area and see that sea view!"

  The apartment itself is one of the cleanest I have seen and the owerner cleans it herself, it was spotless and you’d certainly never know any dogs had stayed. The furnishings are beautiful and you can really see the owners have gone that extra mile to add little touches to make it luxurious. The location is perfect and we found Marske and the people who live there to be lovely, it’s a great base to explore the area. Just wish we had been there for longer. LOVED IT!

• "Lovely set up of apartment, just problem with flooring definitely needs sound proofing we got complained at twice off people below us for the noise even on Christmas Day, so put us in a bad mood and we were all stressed since couldn’t walk about without getting complained at."

  We where glad to be back at home. We tried to say out of the apartment as much as we could since we didn’t feel welcomed.

  Beach is just gorgeous! Appreciated the welcome pack and dvds, Internet fast and reliable. Few (very) minor points that might help - some curtains in the front room would make it cosier at night and radiator leaking very slightly in front bedroom, TV was small for the size of room and difficult to use (and some dvds not playable as bluray), kitchen needs a frying pan, few more knives, and some basics like oil, vinegar to make it perfect. But thanks for a lovely relaxing stay!

• "We had a fabulous stay in Larksbay View."

  I can honestly say it was one of the most comfortable places we’ve stayed in with super comfy beds and sofas . The beach style theme of decoration was beautiful and so relaxing with such a fantastic view of the sea from the window. We really liked all the homely touches around the apartment The kitchen was bright and well equipped and Samantha was so helpful welcoming and thoughtful . Many thanks for the treats we were left and for Mabel our dog. It was great not having to bring dog bowls! The weather was lovely so we made good use of the gorgeous garden opposite. Did we like this place? We loved it!

• "“WOW what a find this place was” My husband and I were looking for somewhere last minuet we could have a short break with our 2 dogs and teenage son, this place was more than ideal, situated right on the beach, the views were outstanding, we walked for miles, also great to visit Staithes and Whitby for the day."

  The apartment itself was outstanding, spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, all mod cons, the beds were fabulous, lovely and comfortable, Samantha was on hand should to run into any problems, there a pub, takeaway, shops in 5 mins walk. We will definitely be returning. Loved it *****
