  • "We have had a lovely week at Litton Hall Barn Cottage!"

The cottage is very comfortable, lots of space and lovely and warm. Bedrooms / bathrooms excellent. They are loads of local walks, we walked from the cottage every day, (didn’t move the car). The owners have provided lots of laminated walks to choose from. Owners are very helpful , they live next door, just there if you need them. Litton is a lovely village. We love its remoteness, and the wonderful countryside. We have to mention The Queens Head , afew doors down… a lovely pub!! We will return - thank-you!

So pleased you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

LITTON

Grassington 10 miles; Settle 12 miles

Litton is a picturesque village of traditional historic stone-built dwellings and a characterful public house. This idyllic village makes the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery and pretty villages of this magnificent Dale. The river Skirfare flows through Littondale, and is fed from the slopes of one of the Dales 3 Peaks, Pen-y-Ghent. The beauty of the classic limestone countryside, with silvery dry-stone walls and field barns, which are part of an ancient agricultural landscape is unique. Through flower-rich hay meadows you can access the river on stepping stones or by crossing the river by footbridge when the water is in spate and enjoy the riverside walk to Arncliffe where you can refresh yourself upon arrival at the Falcon Inn, where food is also available. Local becks and streams that contain very rarely visited, but immensely beautiful waterfalls and limestone gorges, with pools for wild swimming, are on your doorstep, with a plethora of quite rare flora and fauna and valley side woodland walks. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best walking and mountain biking areas in the Dales and can be enjoyed from your doorstep, also with quiet roads for road cycling within the heart of the National Park. Malham Tarn, Buckden, Hubberholme and Kettlewell are all within walking distance from the cottage on quiet, but well-defined footpaths. This is a truly excellent base from which to enjoy this very special area.
