"A very attractive and comfortable property."
Nicely decorated and the lounge in particular was very pleasant, with an amazing view; a very interesting selection of books and magazines. Our hostess and her husband were very friendly and helpful. A minor suggestion would be to add that the fridge has an icebox.
The property is quiet and peaceful, but well located near the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale within a couple minutes walk of the numerous shops, pubs and restaurants.

The apartment is very comfortable, quiet and spacious, we would recommend Mill Brow to anyone. With a large on site parking area and the accessibility to the town center a block away its location is excellent.

"This was the third year in succession that we have booked this apartment."
It was perfect for us in every way. We were planning to come again every year for the foreseeable future. We are sad that the entire complex is now up for sale and it is very unlikely that the same apartment will remain available after the sale.

"A well equipped, spacious apartment in a great location in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale with amazing views."
The private parking space was a bonus and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful gardens looking out over the surrounding countryside. The spiral staircase did not prove a problem for us and we are both in our seventies but fairly mobile.We would love to return to Mill Brow in the future.

"We loved our stay here."
The place is very clean and the views are simply stunning. The host is particularly helpful and friendly.
We would have liked a larger double bed but the bed itself is very comfortable. The external spiral staircase may be a concern for some and I would advise bringing small luggage bags.
The weather was not the best during our stay but this also meant we made the most of the local pubs and restaurants - The Sun and Avanti were our favourites. Number 24 is also a lovely cafe.
We would definitely stay here again if we return to Kirkby and would highly recommend it.

"This is the third time we have stayed at Mill Brow and we will shall be returning in 2024."
Very clean, tidy and laid-back property in a fantastic location. The view from the living room window is something to behold. The designated parking spot is a big bonus. Access to the upstairs property is via a metal spiral staircase and is therefore not ideal for the elderly, young children or pets. The owner lives below and is on hand to answer any queries you may have.

"Mr & Mrs Nicolson were lovely hosts very friendly & helpful and nothing was a problem with our stay, clean homily with wonderful views of the countryside and river with a lovely garden area to the front of the house with table chairs and a BBQ to use as well, this is a fabulous prime spot with free private parking right outside the apartment and a very very short walk into the lovely town of Kirby Lonsdale with its lovely shops bars and all very dog friendly although we don't have a dog."
Mill Brow is a great place to stay as overnight parking is a nightmare in Kirby Lonsdale as you have to leave your car in a public car park payments too, but some establishments do offer free parking permits also everyone in the town were so friendly too.

The view from the sitting room window over the Lune to the fells was beautiful. The situation was completely quiet with just the rush of the river and birdsong to delight when you open the window. Some might find the access via a spiral staircase troublesome, but we (aged 70 and 65) had no trouble. We hope to be back.

From the living room and bed rooms there are fabulous views across the river Lune and valley to the fells beyond. An ever changing picture. The apartment is accessed by a spiral stair case so is only suitable for people with reasonable mobility.

"Unfortunately the apartment smelt foisty sort of damp and old the fire escape entrance was small and winding and quite scarey to walk up and down , the bedroom light did not work

It's in a great location very quiet yet within 5 minutes walking distance of the village centre. Also an excellent base to visit the Yorkshire Dale's and the Lake District.

"On arrival we were welcomed by the landlady with half a dozen free range eggs so that was a good start to the holiday."
Although she and her husband lived under the apartment they left us to our own devices but I am sure were there if we needed them. The apartment was clean and much larger than I was expecting and the views from the bedrooms and living room, outstanding. We were about 30miles SE of Windemere and most of the drive was dual carriageway so very easy to get to. Pubs and restaurants in town were many and welcoming and within easy walk from the apartment. I would recommend this apartment to anyone visiting the Lakes and N.Yorkshire Dales as a great base, comfortable, clean and very much like home away from home

"Absolutely fantastic apartment right in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale, with parking for 2 cars."
This apartment had everything you could want form a holiday home. Every thing was provided in spacious rooms. The view from the lounge window over towards Ruskin's view is breath taking. Just a 2 minute stroll to the centre of the village where you will find numerous good shops, bars & restaurants.
If anyone can find a better holiday let in a better setting, please let me know. I doubt there is one.

The view from the sitting room window across the fields and distant fells is simply magical and is ever changing shades of green in the sunlight. It is an ideal location for visiting the Yorkshire Dales, the Howgills and the Lake District. The owner, Mrs Nicolson is extremely friendly and helpful. It is simply one of the best holiday apartments.

"The property is ideally placed for visiting the South Lakes area and Kirkby Lonsdale itself is a lovely town with a good selection of independent shops and eateries."
The only downside we found was the external spiral staircase to access the accommodation which could be a problem for anyone not entirely fit/mobile. The listing did fully describe this however so we were fully aware of this fact before arriving. This is the only thing that might put us off booking the apartment again.

"Lovely apartment."
We felt our expectations were exceeded when we entered the apartment. Although the description was accurate it did not convey the spaciousness of the whole apartment. Large lounge with fantastic views. Large bathroom and two good sized bedrooms. Dining area a little small but did not in any way detract from the experience. Spiral staircase leading to the apartment is as described and easy enough to negotiate. Met the owner and some other people and everyone was so friendly. Very clean and comfortable. Spacious, fantastic views and parking in pretty much the centre of Kirkby. What more could you want. Extremely likely that we will go back.

The owner lives below and was friendly and helpful without interfering. The apartment is well equipped, tastefully furnished and centrally located in a charming village. It has what has to be one of the best views of rural England from the lounge room window. We were most satisfied with the whole experience and would definitely return to the property if we visit the area again.

Further afield, why not take a day trip into the Yorkshire Dales and explore the White Scar Caves at Ingleton and then pop over to Hawes for afternoon tea?

KIRKBY LONSDALE
Kendal 9 miles.
An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country’.
