• "We had a lovely stay at nectan cottage."

  Robin and rosey were super helpful with guidance over the week! Lovely log burner in the lounge which was cosy. The hill is very steep to walk up and down to the village so bear in mind, my 70 year old dad was done by the 3/4th night of it haha. I personally found the upstairs bed a little too hard and it hurt my back slightly but that’s obviously a me issue so only downside to my stay. We ate at the sharksfin for Sunday lunch and in the week great meals both times. The ship inn was lovely food too. We had a beer in the fountain with the fire going. We visited Charlestown and ate at the Rashleigh, the polgooth inn just up the road is lovely pub and great food! Over all great week had in mevagissey. Thanks!

• "We had a good time at Nectan, the property is in a great location for us and the dogs, they had a great time in the garden as well as the walks."

  The owners are extremely thoughtful and are very friendly, when we saw them they asked if we were OK, and had everything we needed, which we did. The only negative, both of the beds we found uncomfortable so we didn't get a great night's sleep, (maybe the mattresses need renewing, or are new). It is extremely cosy of an evening, now that the nights are drawing in, we would have loved to have used the log burner, but (unfortunately) it was still too warm to use it. Lots of crockery and cutlery with plenty of choice of utensils and pans. There were cobwebs around the lights and windows, so maybe the cleaning team need to be more aware of this, when turning the property round for the next set of holiday makers. Otherwise, the property was clean and sufficient for our needs. I would certainly recommend Nectan.

• "Had a wonderful fortnight staying at Nectan."

  The property is well placed and a short 5 minute walk down the hill to the harbour. The hill is not at all bad back up unless you are very unfit or have limited mobility. The garden is a lovely private area of patio, lawn and flowers/shrubs. There were just two of us staying, with our two dogs and had adequate space however, personally I think 4 people sharing would be somewhat cramped. The kitchen is small but workable area, I don’t know if it was just me, but every time I used the toaster it set the smoke detector off!! I do like to sit at a table to eat, and whilst there is a folding table indoors, it would take over the lounge space if it were to be fully opened. The bed was very comfortable and huge. Only used the upstairs bedroom for sleeping, but used the downstairs shower as much more powerful than the upstairs en-suite. There is adequate parking on the driveway to the cottage, shared with the hosts, Robin and Rosie , and although next door to them, only saw them twice, once to ask whether we would like the cleaning lady to come in and change bedding for week 2, and once when we were returning home from a day coastal walking and they were tending to the flowers, both are lovely people. The welcome pack left for us was gratefully received. Would recommend certainly to couples, and would return to Nectan if basing at Mevagissey any time

  Comfortable and everything we needed. The owners Robin and Rosie live next door. They were friendly and gave us some good tips about things to do. I walked into Mevagissey every morning to get newspapers. Just had to buy a coffee and cinnamon bun which I enjoyed sitting on the harbour. The walk back up the hill is a challenge. Loved Megavissey and our stay at Nectan.

  Contained everything we needed plus a few little extras that were a lovely touch. Safe and secure garden for the dogs and a great base for all our walks. The owners were very friendly and helpful and Mevagissey has many dog friendly pubs/restaurants. We had a great time.

• "The property was easy to find with good parking."

  Access to the town within walking distance although the hill back up is challenging! Comfortable and we were able to use the wood burner which made the evenings very cosy. Overall a great base for exploring that part of Cornwall, and Heligan was just a stones throw away.

• "What a great find!"

  Everything you need, quiet, clean, comfortable and warm! Great garden for Ralph (the dog). Set up the hill above the most beautiful quaint harbour. Daily walk down the hill (it’s quite a hill!) for a coffee to sit and enjoy the view. We met the owner/s just once to make sure all is ok and then left alone to enjoy our week. Would not hesitate to recommend this property and area. The most lovely week.

• "Lovely week's stay in a very wet and windy November!"

  Comfortable warm house, home from home atmosphere with extras like games, jigsaws, board games, books, DVDs. Kitchen very well equipped. Welcome pack of milk, bread, butter, beans etc was a lovely surprise. Great south facing patio overlooking fields. Robin and Rosey really welcoming and helpful. Hill down to the village centre really steep and would be too challenging for those with mobility issues. Recommend driving round the back lanes rather than the single track road down (unless you like reversing up round a steep bend!). Very dog friendly pubs. Highly recommended.

  Mevagissey is a beautiful place to visit lots to see and do both in Meva and the surrounding areas. Robin and Rosie were really helpful particularly with directions avoiding the village, thank you! The cottage is lovely really warm with everything you could want. Yes, there’s a steep hill to walk up but by the end of the week you don’t even notice it - honest!!! Thank you.

  A glass of wine much appreciated after a 6 hour drive. The house was clean and cosy. The garden perfect for our little dog. Everything we needed to prepare meals was there and the beds comfortable. Steep but easy walk into town for coffee and cakes. Thank you.

• "Nectan is a real home from home, everything you need is thought of and a nice welcome package of milk, bread, crisps, butter, a tin of beans and some wine was left for us."

  The owners were very friendly and they gave us good places to visit in the area. Bedding was a good quality and the towels were perfect, they were big enough to fit around the average human and some spare!! The walk to the harbour and back is on a very steep hill so please be aware of this as this could hinder your enjoyment if your mobility is impaired. All in all a fabulous holiday from the booking process to checking out.

• "Perfect little getaway with adequate facilities."

  Tv remote didnt work very well though and I found the bed a touch too hard but these are small things that didnt affect the holiday. Great shower very powerful. Nice little welcome pack from the owner who was very helpful and friendly. I would warn anyone who struggles a bit with fitness to be wary of tregony Hill where the house is. Its incredibly steep from the town centre to the house. Walking is best though avoid driving in the town as the streets are tiny and there is nowhere to go if you meet another car. We used the other end of the road which are tiny back roads but found those better and less dangerous than the town with its tiny streets and vast amounts of tourists. Overall a lovely place but tricky for cars.

• "We had a great week at this property."

  Our stay coincided with Feast Week which was great seeing locals having fun. The only downside is the walk up the hill which is difficult for anyone with dodgy knees or backs. We found it easier to drive the long way down to the village car park, walk to the harbour and shops and then drive back! Definitely take the longer route to the property as the village streets are difficult to navigate. This is a lovely place for exploring and so dog friendly. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owners are very friendly and left a lovely welcome gift.

• "We was happy with property our other couple found bed upstairs uncomfortable which they bot had pain killers as got up each morning complaining in pain, and floor joist made horrid noise when walking about upstairs, we all loved place clean tidy , if you have walking issues its at top of very steep hill would not recommend."

• "We had a lovely stay at Nectan."

  The owners were welcoming, and helpful when asked anything. Though they are living next door, it didn't feel intrusive or awkward. The accommodation had everything we needed for the two week stay. Our only problem, and it is a minor detail, we struggled to reach anything in the wall cupboards as they are placed unusually high on the wall. I am not of short stature, and I could barely reach, because of this we were limited with storage options for our food. Could have done with a step stool. Overall it was a very pleasant stay. The garden was great for our two small dogs. We were blessed with fantastic weather. Mevagissey didn't disappoint on any level. Virtually everywhere is dog friendly, and there were lots of the furry beasts wherever you ventured.

  ....exactly as described. Owners on hand if needed....but not needed, everything worked or there were instructions. Clean and tidy with all you could need on holiday. Board games were used each evening....great addition to property. Sea view from garden....could check to see if rain on way in!!

  View of the sea from the side and countryside at the back is lovely. Location is great, just a short walk down the hill to mevagissey, walk back up is a bit of workout! But it’s so quiet and peaceful. Owners were really helpful, on hand if you need anything but not intrusive. The only fault really, and it’s not a massive issue is that if you have bigger dogs like we do, the garden isn’t as enclosed as the photo shows at this time of year. I’m sure it’s fine when all the plants have grown. The side gate is a normal small gate and the wall at the back of the garden is 2-3ft high and runs across the back of 2-3 properties so we had to keep dogs on leads in the garden in case they saw something and hopped over to chase, as the weather wasn’t great it wasn’t a massive inconvenience, but it could have been if they weather had have been better and we wanted to spend more time out there. other than that, a lovely cottage!

  Easy to get to, off road parking, spacious secure garden with side entrance, lovely view (South facing), well stocked kitchen, two bedrooms with en-suite, wood burner. Wow. It's also just a few minutes' walk down the road into Mevagissey with shops, pubs, cafés etc. Rosey and Robin couldn't have been friendlier. Perfect property for us and the pooches. Ticks all the boxes.

• "Owners v friendly."

  Fridge was a bar size one, not full size Fridge/Freezer as shown in the listing. The interior is well appointed. From the back garden the sea can only be seen when standing looking over the fence to the side of the cottage. It cannot be seen when sitting on a garden chair on the patio or lawn. We walked several times from the town up to the cottage. Note: it's a 15 min steep uphill. Hope this feedback is helpful.

  The accommodation was perfectly spaced for our family of 4. The property was well equipped with everything needed. There is a lovely well spaced enclosed garden with fabulous views to enjoy. The location was excellent as only a 5 - 10 minute walk into Mevigessy town centre where there are plenty of shops and a beautiful harbour. The other advantage is having your own parking space in front of the property which was easy to access. All in all we were very pleased with the stay, also the owners who live next door were very friendly and helpful with advice.

  A short walk down into Mevagissey which is a fantastic place. Only about a 7 minute drive to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, which is well worth a visit. The only warning i would give, is if you are elderly, disabled or a young family with pushchairs or pram, the walk back up to the property from Mevagissey is a hell of a hill!! We loved our holiday.   We were very comfortable there and loved the patio doors out to the garden, with countryside views and wildlife on our doorstep. The owners of the property, who live next door, were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived and left. Otherwise, we did not see them and they completely respected our privacy. We loved the walk to and from the picturesque harbour and would certainly consider returning here again in the future.

  We may have misinterpreted the description as we were thinking there was a sea/harbour view, but this is only sideways from the garden, not a problem but not quite as expected, still beautiful view of the countryside. The garden was enclosed, perfect for our dog. There are some lovely places to eat in Mevagissey, but with hindsight we would have contacted them prior to our visit to ensure we had reservations. With help from the owner we managed to avoid the village and the virtually impossible tuning at the bottom of the hill, thank goodness!

• "Hosts Rosie and Robin were very good - friendly but not pushy."

  They made some excellent suggestions based on local knowledge and went to extra trouble with recommendations for my birthday which occurred while we were there. Bedding and towels were changed midweek (which does not often happen) and cleaned weekly. Lovely setting in a working fishing village in Cornwall. Very happy to recommend it. One area - which we pointed out to the hosts - was the internet often failed - we could not connect at all. Robin and Rosie said that this had never occurred before - they have fast fibreoptic cable and had not previously been made aware of any internet problems. They undertook to monitor it with future guests.

  It was spotless and had everything we needed. Robin the owner had phoned a couple of days before the holiday and emailed us directions to the cottage, which came in very handy. Be warned the roads are very narrow and the hill to the cottage is steep. Robin & Rosie were very friendly & helpful. If you're visiting in the summer try to go to see Robin in the Megavissy Male Voice Choir singing on the harbour. We were very happy with Nectan and would recommend it to anyone, as long as you can cope with the hill!

• "Booked this holiday apartment for a weeks stay for me, my wife and adult daughter."

  Spoke to the owner Robin on the phone before we travelled and he emailed me directions to avoided going through the centre of Mevagissey. He also gave me tips on places to visit. This is a really nice apartment / extension with two good sized bedrooms attached to the main owners home. There was suitable parking for two large cars. Both bedrooms had en-suite bathrooms. One bedroom had a large double bed with the upstairs bedroom having a king size bed. Comfortable living area with seating for 4 to 6 adults. Kitchen was fully functional with electric cooker, microwave, toaster, filter coffee maker etc which was fine for our stay. Outside private garden with table and chairs to enjoy the sunny weather. We really enjoyed our stay. There are some very narrow roads around this part of Cornwall I advise those with satnavs to turn off quickest route selection and don’t follow the route without checking the roads are suitable for your car. Some roads are are very narrow just a bit wider the your wing mirrors with few or no passing points. Be prepared to reverse.

  The surrounding area has lots of dog walking opportunities in all weathers and some great cafes to walk to. We went to the shipwreck museum at church town and even the dog enjoyed it.

  Just a short (steep) walk down to the harbour. Lovely meal had at The Salamander. Take the ferry to Fowey, we saw porpoises both there and back! Visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan and walk along the left-handside of the coast and down 200 steps to the most beautiful secluded cove. Thank you so much for the bottle of wine and biscuits ...tea coffee milk etc. Just the perfect little base..lovely peaceful garden too.

  Robin, the owner, was really pleasant and helpful. Mevagissey is a really nice Cornish fishing village with plenty of eateries to suit all tastes and a couple of good pubs. The only downside of getting there from Nectan is the extremely steep hill (I think Robin's 100 yards from the village is more than a little optimistic!!!), however, we managed it on a number of occasions but if you are older or have small children I would suggest you think carefully before booking. That said, if you want somewhere to stay in Cornwall that has a parking space you have a price to pay!! All things considered, it was a lovely holiday home and we had a great stay.

  The enclosed garden was excellent for our dog with walks nearby. The harbour was just a five minute walk down the hill, but longer coming up. Very steep hill! And when we arrived it was lovely to be provided with milk, bread butter, wine, tea & coffee. All in all a very lovely and relaxing holiday with fantastic weather for November.
