The accommodation is comfortable and there is plenty of kitchen equipment available for self catering. The hot tub is an additional bonus. We really enjoyed our stay at Old Hall Cottage.

The property

Settle 0.5 miles.

This delightful semi-detached, stone-built coachman's cottage is located in beautiful rolling countryside in the small hamlet of Stackhouse, just half a mile from the market town of Settle.

Situated in its own spacious grounds, the house is located in a wonderful countryside location with superb long distance views and lovely walking opportunities along the River Ribble.

A fabulous rural retreat for large families or groups looking to get away from it all and enjoy the magnificent countryside, the lovely fresh air and the opportunity to spend time in a first-class holiday home.

All individually styled, combining a hint of both the modern with the more traditional, the cottage has a spacious bespoke kitchen leading through into an open plan sitting room with cosy woodburning stove.

A perfect place to spend time together preparing sumptuous meals, relaxing by the warming fire, catching up on the latest news and planning the next walk.

A separate dining room with a welcoming open fire can also be used as a snug or turned into a ground floor bedroom, a great addition to this lovely cottage.

With underfloor heating from the eco-friendly solar panels, guests are provided with that little something extra for their well-deserved break.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, with two nicely set out doubles, a family room with flexible sleeping arrangements and a useful single room.

The bathroom is modern and very stylish, and there is a useful cloakroom on the ground floor.

Outside is a superb 'soft tub' providing guests with an ideal place to relax in the soothing waters and enjoy the views across the spacious lawns and the surrounding meadowland.

Good cycle routes are available from the doorstep along quiet lanes and the ride up to Austwick and Horton in Ribblesdale is a particular local favourite.

The challenge of the Three Peaks is just a short drive away, not for the faint hearted but certainly a rewarding achievement for those of the more energetic persuasion.

Nearby Settle and Giggleswick are a real delight with good old fashioned pubs, excellent cafes, a good range of restaurants, a weekly market, a small but very interesting golf course and the renowned Giggleswick School.

The Courtyard on the edge of the town offers a great place to visit with furniture makers, award-winning cheeses and lots more.

For train lovers access to the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway line is on the doorstep and well worth a ride through some of the most scenic places in the country.

Both Skipton and the Lake District are both under an hour's drive away, making this cottage a delightful place to be whatever the time of year.

Where you’ll be staying

SETTLE

Malham 6 miles; Skipton 17 miles; Kendal 25 miles.

The bustling market town of Settle lies at the south west rim of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, nestled beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes - amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. Tuesday is market day in Settle, when the square is filled with stalls offering a wide variety of crafts and goods. The market place is surrounded by local businesses, the centre being dominated by The Shambles, an historic three storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool. The Victoria Hall has entertainment and other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Settle is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
