6 Customer Reviews

  • "This is a well appointed cottage in a beautiful location."

For us, the proximity to the Pembrokeshire coastal path attracted us initially and we were not disappointed. We spent a couple of days exploring the immediate area on foot. We had picked up provisions on our way to Trefasser, and supplemented these in Fishguard a few days later. We were very comfortable in the cottage and it gave us the perfect chance to unwind and refresh - a great short break. Thank you.

Old Spot Cottage is a characterful, family-friendly cottage located in the north Pembrokeshire hamlet of Trefasser near Strumble Head.

Settled in a rural location with easy access to the sparkling coast, the cottage is brimming with unique features for a family of six's next holiday by the sea.

Off-road farmyard parking greets you on arrival to unpack and get settled in with ease, while taking in your peaceful surroundings.

Step inside to find a kitchen/diner ready to host family dinners after the day's adventures; farmhouse meets contemporary in this well-equipped space with an electric range cooker, dishwasher, and a round, wooden table for six.

After you've cleared the plates and put the little ones to bed, why not grab a bottle from the wine cooler, pour yourself a glass, and step into the enclosed rear garden for a moment's peace.

Retreat inside as the evening cools to a beautiful, spacious sitting room with a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, stone walls, and a gorgeous, stained-glass, original chapel window.

Curl up on the sofas in this unique space with a good book or your favourite show on the TV, all the while the wood burning stove crackles nearby to complete the picture!

After wandering the coast, return to Old Spot Cottage and head to the utility room; located six steps down from the kitchen, you'll find a washing machine and a wet room to freshen up.

Two bedrooms are located on the ground floor, one family-friendly room containing a double bed, child's bed, and cot, alongside a twin with a TV, while upstairs lies the double room which benefits from lovely views, sloped ceilings, a TV, and the quirky chapel window to admire up close.

All bedrooms are served by the ground-floor bathroom, complete with a large corner bath for the ultimate relaxation and a walk-in shower with a rainfall shower head.

Begin your seaside adventure by walking down the coast, with Old Spot Cottage ideally located for walking the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast Path, just a two minute walk away heading either North or South!

Also only 500 yards from the bus stop for the ‘Strumble Shuttle’ which can take you towards plenty of walkways leading to stunning sea vistas, picnic spots, and historic monuments like Strumble Head Lighthouse!

Heading east, pick up any essentials at the convenience shop in Goodwick and visit the Ocean Lab Aquarium which you're there!

There are many eateries in the twin town of Fishguard, as well as walkways around the waterfront to picturesque Lower Town, the location of such famous films as Moby Dick starring Gregory Peck and Under Milk Wood starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor!

Don't forget to call into the Town Hall to visit the historic Last Invasion Tapestry, which was made by around 80 local women to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Last Invasion of Mainland Britain in 1797 when the Napoleonic French were repelled by locals, led by Welsh heroine Jemima Nicholas and her pitchfork!.

A short distance away is Newport, where you can enjoy sunny days at Newport Beach and learn about historic toys at the Ty Twt Dolls' House and Toy Museum and travel further along to visit the iconic Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber - 5500 years of history in a wonderfully peaceful setting.

Heading west, Britain's smallest city, St Davids with its incredible Cathedral, is within easy reach.

Spend the day creating sandcastles on picturesque beaches such as Abereiddy and Whitesands Bay or take the kids to Dr.Beynon's Bug Farm.

Then jump on a boat trip to Ramsey Island with the RSPB Nature Reserve.
