• "Previous reviews had made us a bit wary but we had a very different experience."

  We stayed as a big family group & everyone said it was a great property, with loads of communal space & amazing views. Decor/furniture is a bit dated but it was comfy, clean & tidy, hot tub was fab & ready on our arrival. Host was excellent with good communication throughout. Would recommend & would def stay again.

• "AVOID Very disappointed…."

  Don’t waste your money! We arrived on the Saturday and within an hour the kitchen door came away from two of its hinges. We fixed this after the caretaker advised on the location of a screwdriver, it came away the next day! Sat down for board games at the dining table only for the dining chair to collapse with me. All seats were also stained. Sunday my partner wanted a shower only to find the en-suite shower doesn’t work. Went to main bathroom and the temperature dial was so stiff I had to use a towel to get it to an acceptable temperature for all the family to use. The children went to use the hot tub and it wasn’t filled up enough so we had to fill it up and then wait for it to heat up. The dishwasher was a third full with dirty dishes. The sofa had a large rip on the cushion. Lamp didn’t work in one of the bedrooms. Main bedroom mattress was so uncomfortable that I chose to sleep on the floor, it was stained and too thin to provide any support. The garden furniture was beyond filthy and too dirty to even be used. We reported all complaints and the landlord advised someone would be with us the next day, no one showed up. Maintenance showed up Wednesday and couldn’t fix the shower as it needed parts, advised we couldn’t use the hot tub as it was out of chemicals and there were no more to provide. This makes me conclude that the hot tub wasn’t serviced. Maintenance arrived the following day to clean the garden furniture but didn’t bring any hot tub chemicals. We had three days where we couldn’t use the hot tub. We booked a 5 bedroom and 3 bathroom property for my daughter’s 18th birthday and were are very disappointed with the rental accommodation. Dear owner I believe a full refund is warranted!

  We are sorry for the issues which our guest encountered at Rhiangwyn on their arrival. Thank you for reporting them. It is difficult to think what caused the damage to the kitchen door. As you will recognise, we have hundreds of guests each year and this issue has never previously occurred. We assume that this is damage caused by a previous guest which has not been reported or spotted by our housekeeper on changeover. Generally dining chairs only collapse through misuse. Many visitors have used these chairs over many years without any issues arising. If the chair had been so weakened by misuse by a previous guest, we apologise that this guest has had this unfortunate experience. Our housekeeper has apologised to you for the oversight of the pans left in the dishwasher. When she undertakes a changeover in preparation for new guests, she runs crockery through the dishwasher. On this occasion she overlooked emptying the dishwasher. The hot tub was topped up and ready for use, but we note that it is claimed not to have been. We don't know why this should have been so. The hot tub was fully professionally serviced for the new season only in the previous week. Our maintenance man did no more than confirm that chemicals should be used with the hot tub. Chemicals for use in the hot tub had been placed in clear view on the kitchen window sill. If our guest had not spotted the chemicals, a simple request to our housekeeper would have solved the issue. There are two sets of garden furniture, seating between six and ten people which are available for use. Both are obviously vulnerable to storms at this time of year. The wooden set comes through the winter storms OK, but the other set does get dirty from the damp weather and needs to be cleaned for the new season. We apologise that this has not already been done. Our maintenance man, having promised to attend on Tuesday afternoon, was unable to do so, but power washed both sets first thing on Wednesday morning. The type of mattress is very much a matter of personal preference. This is the first report that we have received about this mattress from the many guests that have used it. The fault with the ensuite shower had not previously been reported to us, and on further enquiry, the shower was working when the house was prepared for your visit. We are sorry that our guest has encountered these issues and we have sought to address them as promptly as possible. We sincerely hope that in all other respects our guest’s party has been able to enjoy the property. Property Owner

• "Rhiangwyn is a lovely, spacious, 5 bedroomed, 3 bathroomed house which was a perfect size for our party of 8 people."

  However, it was not clean. My son and and his girlfriend hoovered before we arrived so that we wouldn't be disappointed, but it needs a thorough clean. There were dirty dishes in the cupboards - presumably the dishwasher hadn't quite cleaned them and they had been removed in bulk and not checked. We couldn't use the shower in the family bathroom because it was leaking through the doorframe in the kitchen. The maintenance man came to have a look the next day after I had let the owner know and I showed him where it was leaking - he said that had been reported 6 months ago, but he hadn't found anything and it hadn't been reported since so it must be something that is moving. He also said that he couldn't fix the problem while we were there as the job was too big. The shower tray in the downstairs bathroom is not on a firm base and dips when you stand in it. I am sorry to give this review because the owner responded to questions appropriately and arranged for the maintenance man to come etc, but the standard of cleanliness and upkeep of the house, I feel, is not up to standard.

• "We really enjoyed our stay at Rhiangwyn."

  We were a three generational group. There was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the stay. The house was very comfortable with a good range of spaces, all a good size. I particularly appreciated the dishwasher. And other members of the group enjoyed the hot tub. The house was well situated for visits to local beaches and places of interest. We would definitely consider booking it again for a similar holiday.

• "We had a fantastic stay ."

  . good location close to Church Bay which was is a lovely sandy cove that the kids loved. House was comfortable, spacious and clean .. The kitchen is well equipped to cook large family meals however a suggestion is that the addition of a teapot, cafeteria and air-fryer would be helpful for breakfast :) Hot Tub, Garden and Bar area were great to relax in the evenings. We would love to stay again and will look at booking for next year Thank you

• "We have sent a lengthy email complaint to Sykes regarding the state of this property."

  In short it had not seen a professional clean in quite sometime. Food debris on floor on arrival, dirty bedding, stained duvets (with what looked like blood), mould on mattresses, window frames, fridge, corners of rooms, murky water in hot tub. Dirty garden furniture, uncut grass. Hob that didn't work properly. We did receive fresh bedding after requesting it and hot tub was dealt with after several messages but water was murky again within 24 hours. Despite this being a dated property it could be a lovely place to stay with a thorough clean and some basic maintenance. The area is lovely and if it hadn't been for the condition of this property it would have been a nice relaxing week and a 5 star rating.

• "It was nice when messaging at 3 to check checking in times to get a reply to say the property was already ready for us so benefited from an early check in however we would much rather have had the property cleaned properly, on arrival there was random dog food biscuits in the down stairs room on the floor, we had to pick dog poo up from the garden as kids found when playing, we also had to clean the dish washer out prior to using as it was full of food, in addition the wardrobe in the kids room was unusable as the wooden slats were broken and had sharps bits on this, upstairs shower in the main bathroom filled up when in use due to plug being caked in hair and grime had to be fully removed in order to use, the decking area extremely dangerous meaning our children couldn’t play safely in the garden, our 3 year old actually got his foot stuck in the end where it is all rotten, the grass was also very overgrown the property does not resemble the pictures viewed prior to booking, the hot tub was also not emptied cleaned and refilled as stated in the description as the water turned green this was bought to the attention for us to be blamed for, resulted in us emptying cleaning and refilling ourselves which took a day of its use."

  i did bring many things to the attention throughout the stay but constantly felt was messaging so our group tried to make the most of our holiday still as a result we found ourselves going out most days as the garden was not suitable for children to play in. The property is a great size and all bedrooms are spacious enough however the property requires a lot of TLC and maintenance.

  Thank you for the feedback, which we welcome and seek to use to correct any faults and make improvements to our service. Unfortunately this visit coincided with wet weather, and this limited the opportunity to cut the grass, which we normally seek to do every two weeks. We don’t understand the reference to dog biscuits found on the floor: our housekeeper takes photographs in each of the rooms on each changeover and none of these photos show any evidence of dog biscuits on the floor. Our maintenance man empties and refills the hottub each week, treating it with the appropriate chemicals. He tells us that he checked with the guests and was told all was OK. Later that day we were messaged to say that the water was green. There was no apparent reason for this, (sometimes this is caused by pollution from make up or fake tan) but our maintenance man attended promptly and dealt with the hottub. It is not clear why the guests chose to empty and refill the hottub, but they did so without using the necessary chemicals, which created hygiene risks for themselves. Half of the decking in the garden was replaced /repaired last Spring. The remainder is scheduled for replacement at the end of the season. Any deficiencies in the current decking are very minor and should not be a health and safety issue. We are surprised at the reference to the website photos – these photos were taken by Sykes in the Spring and we are not aware of any material differences in the property now. Although the slats at the foot of the wardrobe were damaged the wardrobe was otherwise usable and we arranged for their repair as soon as we identified the damage and this was repaired on the day that the guests left the property. We are sorry for the issues identified with the dishwasher and the shower. We try to spot these issues, but sometimes these are not readily apparent at changeover. Property Owner

• "We had a fabulous time here as it gave us a chance to be together with many of our family members."

  We were incredibly happy with the hit tub which we made use of every day really. The different living spaces allowed us to spread out when we wanted and also come together in the large main living room when we wanted. The bedrooms were spacious and the kitchen had pretty much all we needed. We enjoyed the place so much that we have already booked again for next year.

• "Perfectly described on Sykes."

  House was wonderful. We all loved the lay out. A couple of moans about uncomfortable beds but owner is already informed. Hot tub in its space especially, was a massive hit for our group. BBQ area also in perfect space and we did use it. Plenty of tables and chairs for all to sit upon. Bathrooms were welcomed and described to a T. Bedrooms all as described with fresh bedding. Towels were also provided. Kitchen area is the hub of the house. We were able to cook everything in 2 sitings. All amenities as described. Our group had a great time. We always find it hard to get together as a family but staying here solved our problem. Thank you so much, I am already considering other dates to come back. Anji xx

• "This was a great location for exploring Anglesey."

  The views were spectacular from the property, and the beaches - readily awaiting our doggy walks - were just a 10 minute drive away. The house was very spacious and easily accommodated the eight of us comfortably without ever feeling cramped or that we were on top of each other. Most of our little maintenance niggles were dealt with both swiftly and efficiently; the owner of the property rapidly responded to our messages and sorted things out very quickly. This was much appreciated, thank you. Overall, we had a wonderful time.

• "This was a fabulous house with all the facilities we could have wanted."

  It was a very high standard of accommodation and the owner was very caring and made contact to see if we had everything we needed. The hot tub and games provided were a great hit too. Many thanks for a wonderful stay. We even managed to appreciate the periods of good weather. Anglesey is a favourite place. Will definitely be back.

  However cleanliness and maintenance were severely lacking. It was a lovely property with fantastic facilities and could be perfect with a bit of care from the owners.

• "We really liked the spacious accommodation and good sized bedrooms."

  We loved the hot tub and excellent location. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well-equipped and perfect for our needs. But we thought it needed some TLC and a deeper clean in some areas.The plug in the upstairs bathroom didn't fit and the ensuite toilet wobbled. A handle from the patio door fell off so we couldn't use it. The bar area was very shabby and the decking rotten...probably through use of the hose. We were also surprised at the lack of basics like barbecue charcoal, pillows and plenty of loo rolls...bring your own!! Two beds at least definitely need new mattresses ..important with so much use! Finally the dishwasher is very difficult to close when full and a good cut of the grass is needed. These are very small items which would make a big difference and give better value for money. Having said that we loved our week and these were minor irritations in the scheme of things.

• "This house was a great place for what our family wanted, its in a great location for traveling around the island."

  The kitchen is well supplied with plenty of crockery and cutlery for 9 of us. Theres plenty of rooms and space to relax, although we spent the majority of our time in the lovely big kitchen eating, drinking and playing games. The hot tub was a great bonus to our stay, it was clean and ready to used alot of fun for us all. Llio was on hand for any queries, also provided a lovely gift on arrive. Thank you

• "We loved our stay at Rhiangwyn, the perfect base for our large family."

  A lovely spacious home with the added bonus of a hot tub and bar area. A brand new BBQ gave us an evening's entertainment option home from home. A great location for days out and a lovely walk to the nearby Church Bay. We all came back relaxed and determined that we will re-visit. • "The property could do with some tlc, very dirty too."

  There were old cobwebs and dead spiders in the corner of downstairs ceilings. Neighbour very rude and said she was fed up of people parking here every week. It was very cold, windows are draughty. Tv kept losing signal, they need a satellite or a free view box. Beautiful surroundings but the property was disappointing.

  These guests were very complimentary when they were at the property, describing it as "lovely", so the negativity of this review is a surprise. The house is cleaned carefully at each changeover, with photos taken to demonstrate the cleanliness. This winter we have decorated the hall stairs and landing and put in a new bathroom. They alerted us to their problem with the heating. We called out a heating engineer immediately who reported to us that the heating was working fine except for one radiator where the valve was stuck. A new boiler was fitted last November. I can only assume they didn't understand the controls. We tested the TV after the guests published this review, and the TV seemed to be working fine. There is a second TV which is also working fine. I don't know the full details of the disagreement the guests had with the neighbours so can't comment on this. Property Owner

  The hot tub is luxurious, although storm 'Arwen' prevented us from making the most of it. I'm returning to the cottage in two weeks, with a different group of friends, and I can't wait!

  The home was perfect for what we wanted, and it was in a great location, close to lots of places of interest. I think the property had been decorated since we booked it too, as some of the rooms looks fresh and different from the photos. If not, then the photos on the Sykes website don’t do the property justice.

• "Second visit to this property and it has improved from last time."

  The whole place could do with a facelift but it has everything you could possibly want. Garage/shop just 5 min drive from the property means you don’t have to travel too far for your essentials and they stock everything!! There’s plenty of room inside the property - there were 7 adults and a dog staying and we could all get our own space or be together in the huge kitchen. You’re never far from a good day out. Really good base to stay and we’re already thinking of our next stay here

• "This hoilday let is OK."

  And when I say OK I mean just OK. There are lots of things wrong with this property. The hot tub was unusable on arrival it was filthy requiring it to be drained ,the outside bar area is very tired looking and only 1 light was working. The decking area needs replacing as it is rotten in places. The waste pipe from the kitchen kept coming off because it was held on with black tape which resulted in water going on to the decking. The water tank overflow pipe was constantly dripping. The showers in the property are very poor and at one point the upstairs shower stopped working. The washing machine had to be clean before we could use it. In general this could be a lovely place to stay but it's very tired looking and needs redecorating, updating and in need of general repair. And in theses times of covid a deep clean as I don't expect to go on hoilday and have to start cleaning before I can start my hoilday.

  The house was large enough for us all but is in desperate need of a lot of TLC. The hot tub was a success with everyone especially our teenagers but the wi-if was not. Very slow which was to be expected with the position of the property

• "On the first night we found that the bedsheets in the main bedroom were badly stained and the ensuite bathroom hadn’t been cleaned."

  Llio came in the next day and changed the bed sheets and cleaned the ensuite. There was a strange smell coming out of one of the bedrooms upstairs, but luckily didn’t need to use that room. The hot tub was great. It was clean, but was making a few grinding noises when we turned on the water pump. Overall the property if quite large, but shows signs of poor maintenance (e.g. the carpet has been replaced in the lounge, but is not large enough for the room hence you can clearly see the underlay in the corners of the room, including underneath the TV stand). There are many light bulbs that need replacing, especially in the conservatory, and all the clocks in the property don’t work. Other changes from the published pictures on Sykes include; no TV in the kitchen, many of the chairs on the dining room and kitchen have had to be replaced so there is quite a mix of chair styles now.

• "House was in an ideal spot and had some very good facilities but lacked a bit of attention to detail and cleanliness."

  The shower in the main bathroom was really dirty and it wasn’t like it was difficult to remove it just looked like it hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived. The living room had a funny smell and half the light bulbs had gone. We lived in the kitchen which was well supplied with cutlery ,plates,glasses etc.and suited us all as an eating/drinking/games room and we all LOVED the hot tub.

We had a small issue with the heating but Llio did everything to get it fixed ASAP - as well as staying in constant contact. A wonderful home for our stay, and I must say a spectacular sunset view from the back garden nearly every evening!

• "We had a great week exploring old haunts having holidayed in the area for the past 45 years."

  It was an ideal base for the 10 of us with plenty of room for all. There was more space than we expected and the facilities were great. The Hot Tub was well used by us and was ideal at the end of busy days! Llio, the owner, kept in constant touch and was very helpful. Furniture was comfortable and our 3-Generation Family were all happy at Rhiangwyn and would certainly stay there again.
