• "This is a beautiful location and the perfect place to stay for our family."

  We had some beautiful walks, excellent meals in local pubs and great trips to the beach. I would certainly recommend this fabulous house for anyone looking to recommend this area of Cornwall! Thank you for letting us stay, we had a wonderful time!

• "Rocklings is a pretty cottage which was nice to stay in for a few days."

  It was appreciated that it accepts pets. There were two area which could be easily improved to make it a really nice stay. The house is stuffed full of accessories which are unnecessary and almost overwhelming but also catch dust, so a declutter would be for us something which would have been welcomed. Both twin rooms were not able to be made into doubles/kings and I think more modular beds would have been welcomed, this would have enhanced the stay, but was a preference and it wasn’t advertised in that way. Cleanliness was OK, but it could have been better, with all the art, surfaces covered in things it must be difficult to keep dust at bay. Overall we had a nice stay, appreciated that there were some small touches delivered by John Bray and the kitchen was well equipped and everything worked well. The property is slightly down a hill so there is a walk uphill to get to the footpath and with an elderly guest we managed (just!). Thank you :-)

• "I spent a very comfortable few days at Rocklings on solo prayer/ writing retreat Beautifully designed, furnished and clean I felt v much at home as soon as I opened the door Everything was all in good working order in the house - thank you I came with no car and local shops were v handy and well stocked - plus ferry into Padstow with all its delights was about 20 min walk downhill."

  Local people and tourists all v friendly. It was a good trek round to Polzeath most days - but beaches at Rock and Daymer are not too far for those with wee children. The bus stop for Polzeath or Wadebridge is near road entrance at local garage. Thank you for making my stay so comfortable and welcoming.

• "Rocklings is the perfect homely cottage for a relaxing holiday."

  The kitchen is very well equipped to enjoy cooking family meals, sofas and beds all clean and comfortable. We love all of the equipment, books and games to use if required and again gives the feeling of home on holiday. Thank you to the owners for the welcome back it’s a lovely touch after a long journey and finally for renting the property, we look forward to staying again next year.

• "Rocklings is a really lovely, family friendly property."

  The house is spacious and was very clean, and the huge hob and oven made cooking for five very easy and enjoyable. We loved the 'reverse layout' of having the front room and kitchen upstairs, especially with the balcony to sit outside on warm days and evenings. The location of the house is also great - we loved a regular dog walk down to Porthilly beach, plus a regular coffee and pastry stop at the exceptional Fee's cafe at the end of the street. My only gripe is that there is a lot in the house - it feels like some de-cluttering would free up the space even more.

• "We had a fabulous break and lovely property extremely well equipped."

• "We just love staying in Rocklings."

  It’s such a comfortable house and perfect for dogs with a utility room for those wet days or beach runs. Its situation means we can leave the car and enjoy all the wonderful walks in the surrounding area and of course the shops are nearby. Two lovely pubs also within walking distance and of course the ferry for Padstow.

• "Lovely little place in rock, great value for money."

  Would stay here again. The only thing I would say is that the place has too much stuff in it; seemed every surface had some kind of knickknack on it, there were mobiles hanging everywhere (if I ever see a string of hanging shells again I’ll scream) and things like lampshades and table lamps were just way too big. If you watch “sort your life out”, Stacey Solomon always says clear out half your stuff; it would probably be nearer to three quarters there, and it wouldn’t detract from the seaside theme. As much as anything it would probably make the place easier to clean (that’s why I marked it down on this). It won’t stop us from staying there again, but I probably wouldn’t go with young children I because I would worry about them breaking something.

• "It was a lovely property and very close to the Rock beach as advertised which was a bonus."

  The kitchen was brilliantly equipped which is fairly unusual for a typical holiday let but it made a big difference. There were plenty of utensils and plates as well so we did not need to put the dishwasher on after every meal. The upside down living was also very enjoyable as we had some fantastic views from the sitting room over the valley. Very quiet and peaceful.

• "Another lovely week in this very comfortable house in Rock."

  We’ve been coming back to Rocklings for a number of years and it’s always a very relaxing stay in this quiet house close to the shops and beach but away from traffic. Lots of great walks nearby for dogs and Padstow only a ferry ride away. The house itself is always lovely and clean with everything you might need for a family - and the pack of local provisions is a very nice touch after a long drive. We love coming back here!

• "Lovely property in a great location."

  Property was nice and clean and had lots of extras (body boards, buckets & spades) that help make the week. The location is also great for a short walk across a field to get to the sea.

• "While the property was mostly clean , we did find two chips on the floor and an old sweet when we arrived."

• "Had a lovely stay in rocklings, very comfortable house, well equipped ."

  great position for footpaths to Portihilly beach and over golf course to Damer Bay. One comment is that we only had hot water with the booster, so until we worked that out the water was cold., and a pity sheets and towels not provided. However had milk biscuits and tea in the house on arrival and had a lovely holiday

• "We had a very nice week at rocklings the house is cozy and has everything you need."

  There were little extra touches like the supply of shopping bags and a back pack which we found very useful. The bed was very comfortable as was the settee with loads of cusions and throws. The kitchen was spacious and very well equiped. I can defiantly recomend especialy to a family as the house has endless games and books for children. I would have given 5 stars if it were not for the dust the house was not as clean as i would expect, it needs a deep clean the hanging drift wood/shells in the bathrooms for example are thick with dust too many dust collecting plastic/dried plants and nik naks.

• "Absolutely superb cottage in an ideal location."

  Loved the fact that it came with everything you needed in the kitchen and had the little touches to ensure we were comfortable! The only area for improvement was that the shower in the en-suite was slow in draining. We will be returning!

• "Just returned from a lovely week’s vacation in Rock."

  First thing to say is that the information provided by John Bray was excellent and check in simple. The property itself is in a great location tucked down a quiet cul-de-sac. It is well equipped throughout and we liked the lay out, with the upstairs balcony enjoying a super vista. Difficult to fault anything other than the decking area is rather tired and will need attention soon. The local shops, including a deli, small super market, bakery and butchers are all within a few minutes walk. Indeed the lovely ‘Fee’s Foods’ is at the end of the road, so very handy. It is about 15-20 mins walk down to the beach but we enjoyed the daily stroll. We would certainly return to Rocklings or a similar property in the vicinity.
