Buckinghamshire

Buckinghamshire is a county in South East England, located about 50 miles northwest of London. It is one of the home counties and bordered by Oxfordshire to the north, Northamptonshire to the north-east, Bedfordshire to the east, Hertfordshire to the east and southeast, Berkshire to the south, and West Berkshire, Wiltshire, and Hampshire to the west. Its county town is Aylesbury.

Buckinghamshire is a largely rural county, with its most populated areas being in the south and east. The county is home to a number of popular tourist attractions, including the Chiltern Hills, the River Thames, Marlow, and the historic towns of Aylesbury, Buckingham, and High Wycombe. The Chiltern Hills offer beautiful views and a great place for walking, cycling, and horse riding. The River Thames runs through the county and is popular for water sports such as kayaking, sailing, and fishing. Buckinghamshire is also home to a number of popular stately homes, such as the National Trust property Waddesdon Manor.

It’s known for its beautiful countryside, quaint villages and towns, heritage sites, and outdoor activities. Buckinghamshire is home to some of the best walking and cycling routes in the country, and its network of rivers and canals offer plenty of opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.

The Chiltern Hills are great for exploring on foot and offer stunning views across the countryside. Alternatively, you can take a relaxing stroll through the picturesque villages of the Buckinghamshire countryside. There are plenty of historic sites to explore, including the 17th-century Waddesdon Manor, the 13th-century Cliveden House, and the 16th-century Hughenden Manor.

Buckinghamshire is home to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, which celebrates the life and works of the famous author. You can also visit Bletchley Park, where the top-secret codebreaking operations of World War II took place.

For shopping, head to the towns of Milton Keynes and Aylesbury, where you’ll find plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars. Buckinghamshire also has several festivals throughout the year, including the Aylesbury Beer Festival and the Milton Keynes Festival of Literature.
