Suffolk

Suffolk is a county in the East of England. It is bordered by Norfolk to the north, Cambridgeshire to the west and Essex to the south. The county town is Ipswich, while other major towns include Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Felixstowe and Haverhill.

The Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covers much of the county’s coastline. Suffolk is known for its wide open countryside, picturesque villages and its many historical sites, including the ruins of Sutton Hoo, the Anglo-Saxon burial ground.

Suffolk is home to a number of universities, including the University of Suffolk, University Campus Suffolk and the University of East Anglia. It is also home to several historic houses, such as Ickworth House, Melford Hall, Helmingham Hall and Framlingham Castle.

With a strong agricultural tradition, many farmers and markets, and is renowned for its local produce, including apples, asparagus, and Suffolk beef and pork. The county is also home to a number of internationally renowned festivals, including Latitude and Aldeburgh Music Festival.
