It stands on a hill in the Stroud district which overlooks one of the Five Valleys. It is home to a cricket and rugby team and has a popular golf course on the outskirts of the town. There is a local pubs such as The Oak and the Falcon Inn which offer real ales, real fires and a courtyard. Three miles from town you will find the foot of Painswick Beacon which affords vast views across the Gloucester and the Welsh Black Mountains. The ACP Gallery and local café can also be found nearby.
