The village is traversed by the Welsh Highland Steam Railway as it travels from Porthmadog to Caernarfon. The Welsh Prince Llewelyn's dog, who the prince killed believing it had attacked and killed his son but later realised had been defending him from a vicious wolf assault, is memorialised in Beddgelert. This is the perfect spot for a Welsh vacation because it's convenient to get to Porthmadog, Portmeirion, Borth y Gest, and the entire Llyn Peninsula.
