A little more information on Looe

The quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe, is always bustling with maritime activity. Between East and West Looe, you can take the river taxi, as well. There are narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops in East Looe, while West Looe has a beautiful view of the harbour. Banjo Pier, the town's most prominent vantage point, can be reached from the quay and offers stunning views of the harbour, fishing trawlers, and Looe Island, which, during low tides, is accessible by foot. Because of its safe shallow swimming and wide expanse of beach, Looe beach is a popular destination for families. A great rock pool area for children is also available at Hannafore. A new Heritage Centre has recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and cafe, there is also the Kilminorth Woods, a majestic oak woodland rich in plant, insect, and bird life, home to many way-marked walks. Aside from the beaches, the Tamar Valley and Bodmin Moor in this part of south-east Cornwall are home to numerous mining ruins, much of which has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Daphne du Maurier was inspired by this part of Cornwall, and Bodmin Moor inspired Arthurian legends. In this beautiful region of Cornwall, there is a lot to discover.
