Nestled in a serene valley at the end of a private drive, Red Deer Cottage in Wheddon Cross (Somerset) is a charming barn conversion that sits on a working farm in a delightful rural location. Designed with guests' comfort in mind, this detached barn offers flexible accommodation for families or group getaways and is spacious and inviting.

The cottage can accommodate up to six guests in its three bedrooms, comprising two double bedrooms upstairs (one king-sized bed and one double bed), both with en-suite bathrooms, and one twin bedroom with an adjacent shower room and toilet downstairs. The open-plan kitchen-dining and living area provide a convivial space for guests to relax, and laundry facilities are shared with the other cottages.

A patio area outside the cottage with a BBQ and a large enclosed garden (not dog proof) offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor entertainment. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome free of charge by prior arrangement, and there is a forestry track leading from the garden for a short dog walk. The property is just over a mile from the village, where guests can find a shop and a village pub serving food (dog friendly).

The cottage provides a range of amenities for guests, including Wi-Fi (rural), heating, and electricity, and natural water supply from a spring. Bed linen and towels are provided, and guests are expected to arrive from 4 pm and depart by 9:15 am on the day of departure. A refundable security deposit of £200 is required, payable two weeks before arrival, to cover the cost of possible damage during the stay.

COVID-19 Update: The safety and wellbeing of guests and the team are of utmost importance. As a result, extra measures will be taken to ensure guests' safety during their stay, and the owners will send an email with all the details of what has changed before the stay.

Guests are reminded not to arrive before 4 pm to allow for thorough cleaning of the cottage, and on the day of departure, the cottage should be vacated before 9:15 am to allow for thorough cleaning before the next guests arrive. Lastly, guests should be aware that there is a pond outside the garden boundary.

Wheddon Cross is just over a mile from Red Deer Cottage, it's a village in the parish of Cutcombe on Exmoor, based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south.In recent years the village has become well-known for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and a park and ride system operates from the village to enable visitors easy access to the "carpet of snowdrops".Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer. There are a number of great walks along marked footpaths and bridleways, including the famous Coleridge Way which passes through..Wheddon Cross is a thriving community and offers many local services for a small village. The village shop is a well-stocked mini-supermarket incorporating a Post Office counter, petrol pumps, cash point machine and has good opening hours. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is child and dog friendly. The village also has a first school, church, playing field, public conveniences, and a bus service.Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 9 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
